Oral ulcers are a common complication among patients with neurological disorders treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). This condition often occurs due to decreased levels of consciousness, impaired swallowing reflexes, reduced oropharyngeal motor function, and the inability of patients to maintain oral hygiene independently. Poor oral hygiene facilitates bacterial colonization, plaque accumulation, and mucosal irritation, which subsequently increase the risk of oral ulcer formation and secondary infections.
