IDENTIFIKASI JAMUR Candida albicans PADA URINE PENDERITA INFEKSI SALURAN KEMIH DI RSU BUNDA THAMRIN MEDAN

Objective : This study aims to identify the presence of Candida albicans in the urine of patients with urinary tract infections at RSU Bunda Thamrin Medan and to analyze its distribution based on age and gender. Methods : This is a descriptive quantitative study using a cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of 30 UTI patients, with 20 samples selected using purposive sampling. Identification was performed through culture on Sabouraud Dextrose Agar (SDA), Gram staining, and the Vitek 2 Compact system. Results : Of the 20 urine samples analyzed, 5 (25%) showed fungal growth. Four samples were identified as Candida albicans and one as Candida tropicalis. The majority of Candida albicans cases occurred in female patients aged over 50
