A preliminary study conducted at the Physiotherapy Clinic of GrandMed Hospital, Lubuk Pakam, recorded a total of 7,000 patient diagnoses in 2024. Between January and December 2024, 450 patients were diagnosed with osteoarthritis; subsequently, in January 2025, 50 osteoarthritis patients were recorded as experiencing knee pain and morning joint stiffness. These conditions inevitably disrupt the patients' daily activities. The exact cause of knee osteoarthritis remains unknown, though several risk factors can trigger its development. These factors can be categorized into modifiable and non-modifiable ones; however, research indicates that the primary risk factors for knee osteoarthritis include age, gender, obesity, physical activity, genetics, race, and joint trauma. Additionally, certain conditions can exacerbate the condition, such as physical inactivity, diabetes, and the pre- and post-menopausal stages.
