EFEKTIVITAS PEMANFAATAN DAUN JATI (Tectona grandiss linn .f) SEBAGAI PEWARNA ALTERNATIF ZAT WARNA SAFRANIN PADA PEWARNAAN GRAM

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of teak leaf extract (Tectona grandis) as an alternative to safranin in Gram staining of Escherichia coli. Method: This study was an observational, descriptive experimental study using teak leaf extract from ethanol maceration at concentrations of 5%, 10%, and 20%. Escherichia coli bacterial preparations were stained with the extract and
compared with safranin as a control. Results: The study showed that teak leaf extract at a concentration of 5% produced poor staining, 10% produced fair to good staining, and 20% produced excellent staining with clear color contrast and perfectly visible bacterial shapes.
