PEMANFAATAN UMBI TALAS (Colocasia esculenta (L.) Schott) SEBAGAI MEDIAALTERNATIF PENGGANTI SDA (Sabouraud Dextrose Agar) UNTUK PERTUMBUHAN JAMUR Candida albicans

Objective: To determine the potential of taro tubers as an alternative medium to SDA for the growth of Candida albicans. Method: This research is an experimental study conducted to observe the growth of Candida albicans on taro tuber media compared to SDA. Results: After 24 hours of incubation at 37°C, macroscopic observation showed Candida albicans colonies with oval-rounded shape, slightly elevated, smooth and shiny surface, and whitish-yellow color. Microscopic examination revealed round blue-colored yeast cells along with pseudohyphae appearing as non-septate thread-like structures.
