The results showed that most respondents adhered to the diet (84.6%) and had normal GDS (56.7%). The Chi-Square test yielded a p value = 0.000 (p < 0.05), which means there is a highly significant relationship between dietary compliance and random blood sugar levels. In the compliant group, 64.3% had normal GDS and 0% had high GDS, while in the non-compliant group, 92.3% had high GDS. Dietary compliance plays a very significant role in controlling random blood sugar levels in type II DM patients, where compliant patients almost never experience severe hyperglycemia, while non-compliance almost always results in high blood sugar levels. Patients are expected to maintain dietary compliance, nutritionists need to improve ongoing education, and future researchers are advised to use a cohort design and HbA1c indicators.
