IDENTIFIKASI BAKTERI Escherichia coli PADA SAUS JAJANAN YANG TIDAK BERMEREK DI SEKITAR KAMPUS INSTITUT KESEHATAN MEDISTRA
Objective: To identify the presence of Escherichia coli bacteria in unbranded sauces in the surrounding area of the campus. Method: The method used in this study is a descriptive analytical method with a Most Probable Number (MPN) approach to identify the presence of Escherichia coli bacteria in unbranded sauces. Results: All four samples showed positive results for
coliform in the presumptive test. The confirmatory test indicated that three out of four samples met national standards (MPN value < 100 MPN/g). Two samples (P1 A and P2 D) exhibited green metallic colonies on EMBA media, indicating the presence of Escherichia coli. Gram staining showed Gram-negative bacilli, and the TSIA test resulted in acid on both slant and butt with gas formation without H2S precipitation, consistent with Escherichia coli characteristics.
