HUBUNGAN LAMA PENGGUNAAN KONTRASEPSI SUNTIK 3 BULAN (DMPA) DENGAN KENAIKAN BERAT BADAN AKSEPTOR KB DI BIDAN NURHAYATI
Background: The 3-month injectable contraceptive (DMPA) is a commonly used hormonal contraceptive method among women of reproductive age due to its practicality. However, one of its frequently reported side effects is weight gain. The duration of contraceptive use may influence the likelihood of experiencing this effect.
Objective: To “determine the relationship between the duration of 3- month injectable contraceptive (DMPA) use and weight gain among family planning acceptors at Midwife Nurhayati’s practice in Lubuk Pakam”. Method: This study used a descriptive-analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 30 respondents who used the 3-month injectable contraceptive participated. Data were collected through questionnaires and observation. The chi-square test was used for data analysis.Results:Most respondents had used the 3-month injectable contraceptive for more than 3 years (53.3%), and 63.3% experienced weight gain. The chi-square test showed a significant relationship between the duration of DMPA use and weight gain (p = 0.001). Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between the duration of 3-month injectable contraceptive (DMPA) use and weight gain among family planning acceptors.
