Background : Nausea and vomiting are common physiological complaints experienced by pregnant women in the first trimester.
Objective : This study aims to determine the effect of administering young coconut water and honey on the reduction of nausea and vomiting intensity in first trimester pregnant women.
Method : This research employed a quasi-experimental design with a pretest- posttest approach without a control group. The sample consisted of 19 first trimester pregnant women experiencing nausea and vomiting, selected using purposive sampling. The intervention involved the administration of a combination of young coconut water and honey given regularly over several days. The intensity of nausea and vomiting was measured using the PUQE (Pregnancy- Unique Quantification of Emesis and Nausea) questionnaire, both before and after the intervention.
The results: showed a significant reduction in the level of nausea and vomiting after the intervention, with a p-value < 0.05. This indicates that the combination of young coconut water and honey is effective in alleviating early pregnancy nausea and vomiting.
Conclusion: The administration of young coconut water and honey is effective in reducing nausea and vomiting in first trimester pregnant women and can be considered a safe non-pharmacological treatment alternative.
