IDENTIFIKASI KACANG KEDELAI (Glycine max L.Merr) SEBAGAI MEDIA ALTERNATIF Nutrient Agar (NA) UNTUK PERTUMBUHAN Staphylococcus aureus

Objective: To determine the potential of soybean as an alternative to Nutrient Agar in supporting the growth of Staphylococcus aureus, through macroscopic, microscopic, and catalase test observations. Method: This study employed an experimental method by comparing the growth of Staphylococcus aureus on Nutrient Agar and a soybean powder-based alternative medium. Observations were conducted macroscopically, microscopically, and using the catalase test. Results: Colonies of Staphylococcus aureus grew on the soybean medium with macroscopic characteristics similar to those on NA, such as round, smooth, and convex colony shapes. The catalase test showed a positive reaction through bubble formation, indicating catalase enzyme activity. However, the colony growth on the soybean medium was slightly smaller compared to the NA medium.
