PENGARUH PEMBERIAN VIRGIN COCONUT OIL TERHADAP PENYEMBUHAN LUKA PERINEUM PADA IBU NIFAS DI KLINIK SISWANI LUBUK PAKAM TAHUN 2025
Perineal wounds are a common postpartum problem that can cause discomfort, bleeding, and infection, contributing to the high maternal mortality rate (MMR) in Indonesia. Perineal wound management is important to prevent complications. One potential non-pharmacological therapy is VCO, which is known to have antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties, which can accelerate the wound healing process. This study aims to analyze the effect of administering Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) on perineal wound healing in postpartum mothers at the Siswani Lubuk Pakam Clinic in 2025. This research method uses a quasi-experimental design with a population of all postpartum mothers who experienced perineal wounds at the Siswani Lubuk Pakam Clinic
totaling 12 people. Samples were taken by total sampling, and data were collected through observation. The results of the descriptive analysis showed that the average score of perineal wounds before VCO administration was 5.50 with a standard deviation of 2.646. After VCO administration, the average score decreased to 1.83 with a standard deviation of 1.586. The Shapiro-Wilk normality test showed that the data were normally distributed (Sig. > 0.05) both before and after the intervention. Significant differences in perineal wound scores indicate that VCO administration is effective in accelerating perineal wound healing in postpartum mothers. Therefore, VCO can be recommended as a complementary intervention in postpartum perineal wound care.
