KEPERCAYAAN DAN PRAKTIK BUDAYA IBU DALAM MENANGANI KEJANG DEMAM PADA ANAK USIA 1-5 TAHUN : STUDI KUALITATIF DI DESA DAMAK GELUGUR KECAMATAN SILINDA KABUPATEN SERDANG BEDAGAI TAHUN 2026
The findings showed that most mothers believed febrile seizures were caused by high body temperature, while some still associated them with panise nisean, a local cultural belief. The cultural practices included placing a spoon in the child's mouth, applying a mixture of shallots and oil, traditional massage, demban (betel leaf blowing), compresses, and other spontaneous actions. Mothers' reasons for choosing these practices were influenced by family, the social environment, previous experiences, and emotional conditions when dealing with febrile seizures. This study concludes that cultural beliefs and practices continue to influence mothers' decisions in managing febrile seizures. Therefore, health education should consider local cultural values to promote appropriate and safe management of febrile seizures.
