Research Methods:
A quantitative analytic study with a cross-sectional design was conducted from May to June 2026. Data on dietary consumption patterns were collected using a Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ), while hypertension status was determined through blood pressure measurements. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the Chi- Square test at a 95% confidence level (α = 0.05).
Research Results:
High consumption of sugar, salt, and fat was reported by 55.8%, 51.9%, and 50.0% of respondents, respectively. Significant associations were found between sugar consumption and hypertension (p = 0.001), salt consumption and hypertension (p = 0.001), and fat consumption and hypertension (p = 0.000). Conclusion: Sugar, salt, and fat consumption patterns are significantly associated with hypertension in the elderly. Reducing the intake of these nutrients may help prevent and control hypertension in older adults.
