PENGARUH PEMBERIAN AROMA TERAPI PEPPERMINT TERHADAP INTENSITAS MUAL DAN MUNTAH PADA IBU HAMIL TM I DI KLINIK PRATAMA MATAHARI TANJUNG MORAWA TAHUN 2025
Objective:
To determine the effect of peppermint aromatherapy on the intensity of nausea and vomiting in pregnant women in the first trimester in 2025.
Method:
This study used a pre-experimental design with a one group pretest-posttest approach. The sample consisted of 15 pregnant women in the first trimester who were selected using the accidental sampling technique. Data were collected using the nausea and vomiting scale (PUQE) observation sheet before and after the intervention. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon test
because the data were not normally distributed based on the Shapiro-Wilk test.
Results:
Before being given peppermint aromatherapy, the average intensity of nausea and vomiting was 2.93 with a standard deviation of 0.704. After the intervention, the average decreased to 1.93 with the same standard deviation. The Wilcoxon test results showed a Z value = -2.360 and p-value = 0.018 (p < 0.05), which means there is a significant difference before and after the intervention.
Conclusion:
Peppermint aromatherapy has a significant effect on reducing the intensity of nausea and vomiting in pregnant women in the first trimester. Peppermint aromatherapy can be an effective, safe, and comfortable non-pharmacological therapy option.
