KEPERCAYAAN TRADISIONAL DAN PENCEGAHAN STUNTING STUDI TENTANG PRAKTIK PEMBERIAN MAKANAN PERTAMA (COLOSTRUM VS. PRE-LAKTEAL) PADA BAYI BARU LAHIR DALAM BUDAYA NIAS DI WILAYAH KERJA PUSKESMAS GAMBIR BARU
Results:
First feeding practices remain divided between colostrum and pre-lacteal administration. The main inhibiting factors include (1) strong traditional beliefs that colostrum is spoiled milk and honey warms the baby's body (2) pressure from extended family, especially grandmothers as holders of traditional authority. Supporting factors include health center policies mandating early initiation of breastfeeding, a religious-values-based educational approach, and the involvement of community and religious leaders. Conclusion There is a significant gap between health policy (mandatory colostrum) and field implementation, which remains influenced by traditional beliefs. A harmonization approach between medical and cultural perspectives, the development of specific monitoring systems, and the involvement of religious and traditional leaders are recommended to support early
stunting prevention.
