PEMANFAATAN SARI DAUN BAYAM MERAH (Amaranthus tricolorL) SEBAGAI PEWARNAAN ALTERNATIF PENGGANTI SAFRANIN TERHADAP PEWARNAAN BAKTERI Escherichia coli

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of red spinach (Amaranthus tricolor L.) leaf extract as a natural alternative to safranin for staining Escherichia coli, a Gram-negative bacterium. The research employed a laboratory experimental method by
applying various concentrations of red spinach extract (10%, 20%, dan 30%,) and comparing the results with conventional safranin staining. Observed parameters included staining intensity, clarity of bacterial cell structure, and dye adherence. Microscopic examination indicated that red spinach extract could produce visibly distinct staining results, especially at optimal concentrations.
