ANALISIS MIKROBIOLOGIS TERHADAP PERBEDAAN TINGKAT KONTAMINASI BAKTERI Coliform PADA ES BATU KRISTAL DAN KEMASAN PLASTIK
Purpose: This study aims to identify and analyze the differences in Coliform bacterial contamination levels between crystal ice and plastic-packaged ice used by street beverage vendors. Methods: This research is a quantitative descriptive study with a cross-sectional design. The samples consisted of 10 ice samples (5 crystal ice and 5 plastic-packaged ice) tested using the Most Probable Number (MPN) method, which includes presumptive, confirmed, and completed tests. The completed test was conducted on EMBA (Eosin Methylene Blue Agar) media, and results were analyzed microscopically using Gram staining. Data were statistically analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and Independent T-Test. Results: All samples from both types of ice (100%) tested positive for Coliform bacteria. The completed test showed green metallic sheen colonies on EMBA media, indicating the presence of Escherichia coli.
