PENGARUH PENERAPAN POSISI SEMI FOWLER TERHADAP PERUBAHAN RESPIRATORY RATE PADA PASIEN PNEUMONIA DI RUMAH SAKIT GRANDMED LUBUK PAKAM TAHUN 2025
The study used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. The study sample consisted of 15 pneumonia patients selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data
collection was conducted by measuring respiratory rate before and after applying the semi-Fowler's position. Data analysis included the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test with a significance level of α = 0.05. The results showed that before the intervention, the majority of patients were in the moderate (46.7%) and mild (40.0%) respiratory rate categories. However, after
the semi-Fowler's position was applied, the majority of patients were in the mild (46.7%) and normal (40.0%) categories. The Wilcoxon test showed a Z-value of – 3.873 with a p-value of 0.000, indicating a significant effect of the semi-Fowler's position on reducing respiratory rate in pneumonia patients. The conclusion of this study is that the semi-Fowler's position is a simple yet effective intervention in helping improve pulmonary ventilation and reduce respiratory rate in pneumonia patients. This intervention can be recommended as part of nursing interventions in the management of respiratory disorders.
