IDENTIFIKASI BAKTERI PENYEBAB INFEKSI SALURAN KEMIH (ISK) PADA URINE PASIEN DIABETES MELLITUS DI RUMAH SAKIT GRANDMED MENGGUNAKAN METODE KULTUR
Objective: This study aimed to identify the bacterial pathogens causing UTI in urine samples from Diabetes Mellitus patients using culture methods. Methods: This research was a descriptive study with a cross- sectional approach. A total of 28 urine samples from Diabetes Mellitus patients were cultured on MacConkey Agar, followed by Gram staining and Triple Sugar
Iron Agar (TSIA) biochemical tests for bacterial identification. The correlation between the number of bacterial colonies and the severity of UTI was analyzed using the Spearman Rank Correlation test. Results: Five types of bacteria were identified as UTI pathogens: Escherichia coli (64.29%), Proteus sp. (17.86%), Klebsiella pneumoniae (10.71%), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (3.57%), and one sample showed no bacterial growth (3.57%). Statistical analysis revealed a perfect or very strong correlation between the number of colonies and the severity of UTI (ρ = 1.000).
