PEMANFAATAN EKSTRAK BUNGA ROSELLA (Hibiscus sabdariffa l) SEBAGAI ZAT PEWARNA ALTERNATIF PENGGANTI SAFRANIN PADA BAKTERI Escherichia coli

Objective: To determine the ability of roselle flower (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) extract as an alternative dye to replace safranin in the staining of Escherichia coli bacteria. Methods: This study used an experimental method aimed at determining whether roselle flower extract (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) can be used as a substitute for safranin dye in Escherichia coli staining. Results: The results showed that roselle flower extract can provide coloration to Escherichia coli bacteria, with the best results observed at concentrations of 75% and 80%, although the color intensity and clarity of bacterial morphology were still lower compared to staining using safranin.
